Technical Artist

3DI is seeking a full-time technical artist to join its industrial simulation development team.  We are a young and growing company applying state-of-the-art graphics and physics technology to the field of industrial training simulations.  As a member of our team, you will be using the Unreal Engine 3.0 in combination with several in-house tools and libraries to build innovative training software for an eager client base!  You will have the opportunity to apply the latest hardware and software to create projects of unprecedented visual realism.  You will work closely with a team of experienced developers and artists who have gained a reputation at making simulations of the highest quality.

Requirements:

  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant CG and Game Design work.  Functional demonstrations preferred.
  • Experience with the Unreal 3 Game Engine preferred, specifically with the following:
    • Material Editor
    • Matinée
    • Importing / Publishing assets tied to code (such as vehicles)
    • Lighting (specifically dynamic lighting and light environments)
  • Experience with alternate game engines would be considered based on portfolio examples
  • Experience working on part of a professional team, working with programmers to create high quality  functional elements
  • Understanding of basic programming (such as U-Script) preferred
  • Problem solving skills and a willingness to push the state-of-the-art forward
  • Able to meet deadlines while producing quality work

Assets:

  • Experience using Autodesk 3d Studio Max (Modeling, UVW Mapping, Rigging, Animation, Exporting)
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop (Texture creation, Editing)
  • Experience with next-gen technology, such as normal mapping, displacement mapping, etc
  • Experience with the Unreal 3 Game Engine (or equivalent)
  • Willing to interact directly with clients to gather requirements and demonstrate projects
  • Interest in working on serious games

Salary: Negotiable based on experience
